Aluna’s new album is a testomony to her convictions.
MYCELiUM is a loud-and-proud reminder of her proclivity to take dangers, break down obstacles and forge her personal path to create music for the soul. The album invitations its listeners to be vibrant, daring and unapologetic by 14 distinctive tracks that remember individuality by the affect of 90s-era dance music.
“The Mycelium is the cell community seeped into the material of nature. I’m not speaking concerning the bloom or the fruits. You could lay the groundwork to see the fruit sooner or later,” Aluna stated in a press launch. “I received burnt out from making an attempt to work with highly effective individuals who have plenty of cash and no precise real take care of what I’m making an attempt to do. The album kicks off with an eerie lyrical intro that tickles the ears with a soliloquy about interconnectedness and the unseen magic in life. Aluna proceeds to blow the doorways off, flinging headlong right into a house-infused journey related by bubbly vocals and entrancing beats.

After a dreamlike interlude, we’re pulled deeper into Aluna’s mystical world. The second half of the album turns up the warmth, particularly with the radiant “Oh The Glamour,” a brazen and assured anthem produced alongside Pabllo Vittar, MNEK and Eden Prince. The album then effortlessly flows into Aluna’s hit collaborations, “Working Blind” (with Tchami and Kareen Lomax) and “Beggin‘” (with Chris Lake).
MYCELiUM ends on a hypnotizing word with “Playin Wit Ya,” whereby propulsive manufacturing from Walker & Royce reinforces the celebration of self by visceral deep home grooves. The ultimate monitor, “Future” brings all of it residence with a surprising Afro-house coda.
