Panda Bear and Sonic Boom have introduced a full dub rework of their 2022 album, Reset. It’s known as Reset in Dub, and it was helmed by British dub producer Adrian Sherwood. It’s out August 18 digitally and December 8 on vinyl. Try “Whirlpool Dub (Adrian Sherwood Reset in Dub Remix)” beneath.
“I like large empty areas; I like malls when there’s nobody there and the seashore within the wintertime—visually it’s easy and uncluttered and the noise of the surf drowns out all the pieces else, so I suppose it’s no shock I’ve all the time appreciated the sound of dub,” Panda Bear mentioned in an announcement. “And although some stuff bears its mark greater than others I’d wager you will discover residues of it in all the pieces I’ve performed. As a fan of Adrian’s I used to be excited when Pete [Kember aka Sonic Boom] advised we ask him to do some dubs of Reset tracks, however as they began to come back by way of it was clear what he was engaged on was far more than a dub. Reset in Dub feels just like the factor filtered by way of a prism and it recontextualizes the OG.”
“It is a full reset of Reset from myself and the On-U Sound crew,” Sherwood added. “Being a fan of Animal Collective and Spacemen 3, when it was advised we do that collectively I liked the thought and relished the problem. We talked about influences, outdated information, mixing strategies and made a plan, which was to maintain all the weather of trippy enjoyable, however with added menace, groove and an extremely lively combine for the ‘heads.’ Very glad and happy with the consequence.”
Panda Bear and Sonic Growth are acting at Chicago’s Pitchfork Music Festival on Saturday, July 22. Tickets are on sale now.
