Following a restricted run at Dance Base in August 2019, CURIOUS SEED is thrilled to announce a spring 2024 tour of And the Birds Did Sing, created and carried out by Christine Devaney. Blending up to date dance and storytelling, And the Birds Did Sing is an intimate solo dance theatre work, carried out with an evocative soundtrack, poetic textual content and ethereal set design. Loosely structured round creator and performer Christine Devaney’s childhood recollections, made in collaboration with musician Luke Sutherland and artist Yvonne Buskie, And the Birds Did Sing is a salve for the soul that leads the viewers on a poignant journey.
And the Birds Did Sing speaks to common human themes of rising up, life and loss of life, the passing of time and love. Holding a fragile stability between disappointment and pleasure, this Herald Angel award-winning efficiency incorporates dance, spoken phrase, visuals, and music, with humour and tenderness.
And the Birds Did Sing received a Herald Angel Award on the 2019 Edinburgh Festival Fringe and was runner up for the Scottish Arts Award.
