When actor Andrew Agnew noticed a brand new Glasgow musical marketed on the Pavilion
Theatre social media, he knew he needed to be concerned.
“When I saw the list of Glasgow bands that were to be included, I called my
agent and asked If they could get me seen for the show,” he says. “Having worked
in the glorious Pavilion Theatre a few times before I knew it was going to be
something special.”
The actor, who’s greatest referred to as the crime busting, nature loving PC Plum within the
two-time BAFTA Award-winning Balamory (CBeebies), despatched a self tape to the
manufacturing workforce and was promptly solid as Tony in GLASGOW KISS, alongside different Scottish performing powerhouses Stephen Arden, Lorraine Graham, Ellen
Jackson, James McAnerney, Valissa Scott and extra.
“The Pavilion audiences are second to none. I’ve also been many times as
an audience member ever since I was young. I loved visiting the pantomimes and
also the variety shows featuring many Scottish legends.”
Glasgow Kiss follows James (Stephen Arden) who returns to Glasgow after
20 years for a funeral. He reunites with the chums he used to hang around with on the
well-known Barrowlands, and celebrates the wealthy musical tradition of the place which
was the soundtrack to their youth, first loves and friendships.
“The story grows in lots of directions and includes many colourful Glasgow
characters that, with this great script, will keep you laughing, dancing and even
shedding a wee tear,” says Andrew.
“We are still in very early stages of rehearsals but it just keeps getting
better and better… Plus, the way these familiar songs by major Glasgow bands are
interspersed into the story is exciting.”
Indeed, Glasgow’s musical magnificence lies on the very coronary heart of GLASGOW
KISS. The present options songs from Scottish favourites resembling Simple Minds,
Primal Scream, Texas, Frankie Miller, Gun and lots of extra.
“There is so much wonderful musical talent in Scotland, we are so lucky to
have all of them,” says Andrew, “Band clever, Deacon Blue is a giant favorite of
mine…. I’ve at all times beloved their sound. Texas are very good… I positively love Annie
Lennox, Jimmy Somerville and Michelle McManus.
“But of course, Wet Wet Wet were my childhood. I knew almost every
word.”
And his character?
“I’m enjoying the a part of Tony and his alter ego… he’s within the leisure
business, that’s all I’m keen to say…. It’s going to nice enjoyable as I get do be concerned
in some nice songs and hopefully some fab costumes.
“It’s always very exciting appearing at the Pavilion. To play on the
same stage as many greats […] is always a huge thrill and pleasure. So roll on
October.”
