A Play, A Pie and A Pint has right now introduced the solid of Anna/Anastasia by acclaimed comic and
author Jonny Donahoe.
The comedy is impressed by the real-life story of Anna Anderson, the best imposter of the twentieth century, who claimed to be the Grand Duchess Anastasia, the final surviving member of the Romanov household. The present revolves round Anna (or Anastasia) being interrogated by a detective who is decided to get to the reality of who she actually is.
Anna/Anastasia will star Kirsty McDuff, within the titular position, alongside award-winning comic and actor Chris Forbes.
It is written by Jonny Donahoe, co-creator and unique star of smash-hit Every Brilliant Thing,
and directed by Liz Carruthers, in her report thirtieth time as director for A Play, A Pie and A Pint.
It debuts in Glasgow at Òran Mór from 30 Sep – 5 Oct and also will tour to the Traverse Theatre in
Edinburgh (8 – 12 Oct) and The Lemon Tree in Aberdeen (15 – 19 Oct).
Jonny Donahoe stated:
“In 1920, a young woman showed up in a Berlin Police Station, claiming to be Anastasia Romanov, the
daughter of Tsar Nicholai II. Given she’d been executed alongside her whole family three years before, this was quite surprising. But over the next 60 years she went on to convince half the world of who she was, and lead one of the most remarkable lives of the twentieth century. Anna/Anastasia tells her incredible life story and asks the question “does a story really need to be true for you to believe it?”. I’m so excited to be sharing this story as my very first A Play, A Pie and A Pint. “
