A Different Man, No Other Land Win at 2024 Gotham Awards

Aaron Schimberg’s A24-drama of id, look and private transformation, A Different Man, received Best Picture final evening on the thirty second annual Gotham Awards. No Other Land, directed by an Israel-Palestinian collective consisting of Yuval Abraham, Basel Adra, Rachel Szor and Hamdan Ballal , took house the Best Documentary award for its depiction of Israel’s expulsion of Palestinian West Bank residents from their properties and villages. Payal Kapadia’s Mumbai-set All We Imagine as Light received the Best International Feature Award.

Two movies picked up two awards every: Nickel Boys and Sing Sing. The former received Best Director for RaMell Ross and Breakthrough Performer for Brandon Ross, whereas the latter picked up Outstanding Lead Performance for Colman Domingo and Outstanding Supporting Performance for Clarence Maclin. Finally, Vera Drew took house Breakthrough Director for The People’s Joker and Azazel Jacobs received Best Screenplay for His Three Daughters.

In addition to the aggressive classes, The Gotham bestowed seven tributes. The Spotlight Tribute was given to Zendaya for her work in Challengers;  Dune 2 director Denis Villeneuve was given the Director Tribute; Franklin Leonard and The Black List obtained the Anniversary Tribute; The Piano Lesson obtained the Ensemble Tribute; Sing Sing obtained the Social Justice Tribute; A Complete Unknown collaborators Timothée Chalamet and James Mangold obtained the Visionary Tribute; and Maria star Angelina Jolie obtained the Performer Tribute.
