Vocal powerhouse duo Michael Ball and Alfie Boe are again collectively and again on the town with their newest area present Together At Home. Following on the heels of their triumphant look on the venue as Javert and Jean Valjean within the Les Miserables Arena Tour, the anticipation is excessive among the many 12000-strong crowd.
And boy, they don’t disappoint.
The over-arching theme is of house, the the place, who and what makes us really feel at house. The night’s programme includes virtually all of their latest Together At Home album, highlights from which embrace: The Hollies’ He Ain’t Heavy, He’s My Brother, Gerry and the Pacemakers’ Ferry Cross the Mersey and Gerry Rafferty’s Baker Street. The authentic album consists of some stunning selections which seem right here too, together with Peter Gabriel’s Solsbury Hill and Take That’s Rule The World.
It wouldn’t be a Ball & Boe present with out showcasing their beautiful vocals on some musical theatre classics, there’s He Lives in You from Lion King, The Greatest Show from The Greatest Showman and a joyous model of You’ll Be Back from Hamilton that options some spirited backing vocals from the huge viewers. Thankfully the pair ship the songs that arguably, the entire crowd have been ready for: an exquisite duet model of Empty Chairs at Empty Tables and the completely beautiful Stars from Ball and Bring Him Home from Boe, accompanied by an emotional montage exhibiting the pairs’ historical past with the a lot liked, iconic present.
A joyous, uplifting celebration of music and musical mastery by two of the best singers Britain has ever produced. Just excellent.
