Scottish Ballet’s Wee Nutcracker is coming to Glasgow’s Tramway this December. The beloved festive ballet, The Nutcracker, has been specifically tailored for wee ones aged 5+ and their households.
Associate Choreographer Nicholas Shoesmith has contributed new choreography to the present work, and award-winning kids’s theatre specialist Robert Evans (Little Red, Lightning Ridge) has contributed to the inventive course of to reinforce the storytelling and make for a welcoming and relaxed manufacturing for all of the household.
Wee Nutcracker encompasses a reside pianist and a recording of the complete Scottish Ballet orchestra taking part in the enchanting Tchaikovsky rating.
Wee Nutcracker would be the first ‘wee’ ballet, created particularly with households in thoughts, that Scottish Ballet have staged since performances of Wee Hansel and Gretel in 2019.
Christopher Hampson, Artistic Director/CEO of Scottish Ballet stated: “I’m delighted to be bringing Wee Nutcracker to Tramway to inspire young children and families with the magic of dance”
Nicholas Shoesmith, Associate Choreographer at Scottish Ballet, stated: “It’s so exciting to be creating a festive treat for a new, younger audience. We’re going to create a magical experience for children, and hope to encourage them to continue going to the theatre, maybe even inspire them to want to become dancers themselves!”
Performances will run from 12-24 December in Glasgow’s Tramway.
