HBO Max and GKIDS introduced immediately a continuation of their prolific partnership which has made the status streamer a high vacation spot for U.S. viewers occupied with award-winning, critically acclaimed animated movies out of Japan. HBO Max is already the unique house of the world-renowned Studio Ghibli catalog within the United States, distributed by GKIDS, and now shall be house to further excessive profile titles as a part of the expanded deal.
On September 1, the primary batch of titles included within the new settlement will drop on HBO Max for all subscribers, that includes the works of Golden Globe-nominated and internationally famend filmmaker Makoto Shinkai together with the North American streaming debuts and 4K streaming debuts of choose titles for premium subscribers:

Titles coming to the streamer later in 2025 and 2026 underneath the brand new deal embody the critically acclaimed Shin Godzilla from director Hideaki Anno and co-director Shinji Higuchi, for the primary time in 4K. Also included would be the works of Academy Award and Golden Globe-nominated filmmaker Mamoru Hosoda in 4K streaming debuts, in addition to movies from Golden Globe-nominated filmmaker Masaaki Yuasa, legendary filmmakers Satoshi Kon and Mamoru Oshii, Naoko Yamada, and extra:

Specific premiere dates for titles shall be introduced at a later date.

The deal was brokered by Liz Bannan Atcheson, VP, Content Acquisition for HBO Max and Eric Beckman, GKIDS’ Founder and CEO.
