Prolific collaborators Eiko Ishibashi and Jim O’Rourke are releasing a brand new album. Pareidolia is out August 29 through Drag City. The album collages collectively improvised music from the artists’ 2023 tour of Europe. Today, Ishibashi and O’Rourke have shared a snippet of Pareidolia. Check it out under.
The album’s title, as famous in a press launch, is outlined as “the tendency to perceive a specific, often meaningful image in a random or ambiguous visual pattern; to see shapes or make pictures out of randomness.” Pareidolia follows Ishibashi’s March album, Antigone, and O’Rourke’s 2023 soundtrack album for Hands That Bind. It additionally follows collaborative works from Ishibashi and O’Rourke, equivalent to Lifetime of a Flower, Okiooishi, and Treatments.
