Fifteen years in the past, this household adopted two shelter kitties regardless of realizing one in all their dad and mom was allergic. At the time, it appeared manageable. Visits have been rare, no youngsters to deal with, and the cats crammed the house with purrsonality. The mum or dad has by no means really warmed up, yearly reminding everybody of the feline faux-paw. This week, after the grandkids’ sleepover triggered a sneeze-fest, a dramatic message arrived: “Can’t you just get rid of the cats?”

To be honest, the furmiliy has bent over backward, lint-rolling like Olympic champions, furoiusly vacuuming, locking cats away, and even investing in air filters. Sometimes the mum or dad reacts, typically not, even with out meds. Interestingly, when siblings had cats, no whiskers of blame have been directed their approach. And when a supposedly “hypoallergenic” attic cat moved in, the mum or dad mysteriously had zero reactions. Suspicious? Fur positive.

Now, rehoming is on the desk, however these cats have been an emotional lifeline, particularly throughout postpartum struggles. The new plan? Try science-backed kibble to scale back allergens. In the top, the cats are clearly greater than pets. They’re family. Would preserving them actually make this pawrent the villain?
